Toyota has postponed the premiere date of the new Land Cruiser 300

The SUV was originally set to be released on May 31 or June 1.
Japanese automaker Toyota has published a teaser announcing the release date of the next generation Land Cruiser. The presentation will air live on the brand’s official YouTube channel on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 19:00 UTC.

The fresh video is only six seconds long, but the brand will likely release a few more videos before the premiere. By today we know that the SUV will move to TNGA-F architecture, with no eight-cylinder engines. Buyers will be offered a 3.5-liter turbocharged petrol V6 with 409 hp and 650 Nm, as well as a diesel 3.3-liter “six” with 302 hp and 700 Nm. In both cases, the transmission is a ten-speed automatic gearbox.

The new “Cruiser” will become lighter due to the use of aluminum. A 15-liter smaller fuel tank (the new units are more economical) will contribute to “losing weight”. Judging by the numerous spy shots, the exterior design is evolutionary, and not revolutionary. In GR Sport version the length of the car will make 4965 mm, and the most expensive modification will be 20 mm longer. The latter will also be distinguished by an abundance of chrome, oversized wheels, the presence of several touchscreens in the cabin and an advanced audio system JBL with 14 speakers.
A four-zone climate control, a camera under the floor and KDSS – electronically controlled system of kinetic stabilization of the suspension are declared for the model. However, it seems that this option will not be available for all Cruisers.

INEOS POSTPONES PRODUCTION OF THE LAND ROVER DEFENDER DUE TO OFF-ROAD TESTING

Jim Ratcliffe, project creator and owner of Ineos, said that the coronovirus pandemic has affected not only people’s lives, but also his plans to produce the classic LAND ROVER DEFENDER SUV under the Ineos Grenadier brand. The Ineos Grenadier was originally scheduled to go into production this year, 2021. But due to coronavirus restrictions and the pandemic, it became clear that the first production car would not appear until the third quarter of 2022. All because of the postponement of field testing of the new SUV. According to plans to release the first production model, scheduled for July 2022.

Along with this statement Ratcliffe told about the last stage of off-road tests of the car. The first phase of testing is taking place around the Schöckl Mountain in Austria. This is near the Magna Steyr headquarters.
Magna Steyr is an Austrian company, the technical partner of Ineos Grenadier.
It is also planned another stage of testing, which will involve more than a hundred prototypes, to be exact 132 prototypes that will run a total of almost two million kilometers in the most severe off-road conditions? That is, each instance must pass more than 15000 km, that is the mileage used between full maintenance of the car. Before testing in Austria, the Grenadier was tested in the Swedish polar region. And after the Austrian phase, testing in the deserts of the Middle East and the final stage in the U.S. Valley of Death, the Mojave Desert in California (USA), where the temperature record for the Western Hemisphere is set. In 1913, the temperature was +56.7 Celsius.

After the completion of all tests, Ineos will begin production of the first production batch of SUVs. They will be produced at the plant in Hambach, France, where until recently Smart was produced. After Ineos Automotive purchased the plant from Mercedes-Benz. Before buying the Hambach plant, the plan was to assemble a new, old-school SUV in Bridgend.

Ineos Group Chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe said: “Hambach has provided us with a unique opportunity that we simply couldn’t pass up – to buy a state-of-the-art automotive manufacturing facility with world-class employees.” Also instrumental in the purchase was the proximity of the facility to Germany, as the engines and gearboxes for the Grenadier are to be supplied by BMW.

The Grenadier project is aimed at people who would still like to buy the classic off-roader of the old-school Land Rover Defender. The vehicle will be powered by the latest generation BMW six-cylinder engines and transmissions.
The cost of the novelty ranges from £35,000 to £60,000.
Back in early 2021, when Ineos announced it was accepting orders for the first batch of SUVs to roll off the assembly line in late 2021, it received more than 20,000 applications for the Ineos Grenadier.

Remember how the Unmanned Range Rover drove down the UK’s toughest road in 2018?

We decided to remember how it was.
An unmanned Range Rover SUV drove on one of Britain’s most challenging roads – a 3.62-kilometer lap on the Coventry Ring Road, the car did without human intervention.
The Coventry Ring Road is considered one of the toughest roads in Britain and challenges even experienced drivers. But now the highway has been conquered by a drone.

A Range Rover Sport crossover under autopilot control drove a full circle, changed lanes independently and maintained the speed limit of 65 km/h without problems. Circle traffic, intersections, pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles did not cause any difficulties for the drone.

The test prototype was built as part of the UK Autodrive project. Engineers developed a then-new version of the autopilot for the car, which was tested on closed landfills before being taken out on public roads in Milton Keynes and Coventry.
Jaguar Land Rover used the standard adaptive cruise control in the drone, which is equipped with production models, and supplemented it with new navigation system sensors, as well as RADAR and LIDAR technologies.

Jaguar Land Rover autonomous vehicle research director Mark Kand said the Coventry Ring Road is very challenging and puts pressure on the driver. Autopilot, on the other hand, can take unnecessary pressure off the person.
Jaguar Land Rover noted that the new technology to improve safety and reduce emissions is built on the interaction of vehicles with each other and road infrastructure.

Ford introduced a new family of Bronco SUVs.

The starting price has already been announced, and orders are open.
Ford has officially unveiled a frame SUV with the familiar name Bronco. Model of the sixth generation, which appeared a quarter of a century after the cessation of production of the fifth generation, debuted immediately in two bodies – classic three-door and new for it five-door (the Americans themselves call these configurations as two and four-door). The younger Bronco Sport was shown at the same time – but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Revived Bronco is positioned as an alloy of classical style and the newest engineering developments, focused on fans of outdoor activities and serious lack of roads. According to Ford CEO Jim Farley, the model combines the ruggedness of F-Series pickups, the sporty spirit of the Mustang pony car and a functional design inspired by the original 1965 Bronco.
The default SUV is all-wheel drive with a three-mode transfer case and a 2.72:1 reduction ratio. For an additional fee, it will be offered electromechanical transfer gearbox with On-Demand 4H function and 3.06:1 gear ratio. Other features include Dana axles with differential locks, independent front suspension, advanced stabilization system, seven calibrations of driving electronics to choose from, and off-road cruise control.
The engine lineup includes two familiar EcoBoost petrol units – the 2.3-liter “turbo four” with 274 hp and 420 Nm and 2.7-liter V6 with 315 hp and 542 Nm. They are combined with seven-speed manual or 10-band automatic.
Ford claims the new Bronco is the class leader in ground clearance (29.5 cm), ford depth (up to 85 cm), suspension travel (17% more than nearest competitors) and a number of other parameters. Standard towing lugs in the front and rear, optional power bumpers with a winch, steel protection of the engine, transmission and fuel tank, and 35-inch tires are added to the model’s off-road capabilities. There’s also a 68-kg front fender attachment designed for carrying long loads, such as canoes.
All five-door Bronco models have a four-section removable roof, while three-doors can also have a three-section roof with a fixed panel in the rear. The frameless doors are also removable, as the manufacturer assures us – more easily than the competition. The mirrors remain, as they are fixed at the base of the front pillars.
The dashboard is again inspired by the original Bronco. At the same time, buyers will be offered the latest SYNC4 multimedia system with a 12-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, navigation with preset off-road routes, a special “off-road” version of the all-around vision system and the like.
In total, Americans will be offered seven versions of the Ford Bronco, including extreme Badlands (something like the answer to the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon) and a special First Edition, dedicated to the revival of the model. At the same time, there are ample opportunities for personalization, including – more than two hundred factory accessories. So far, the price has been announced for the Base configuration only – from $29,995. To make an order requires prepayment of $ 100. Production is traditionally set up in Michigan. Deliveries are scheduled to begin next spring.
